From Spooky Beer Dinners to Halloween Brunch, here's how to get in the spirit!
Candy isn’t the only food item you can indulge in this month. Halloween is the time to show off your scary costumes and holiday spirit, but also enjoy food or fun cooking activities with friends and family. Various restaurants and organizations are getting their Halloween on throughout Delaware this month.
Check out these festive food events to get you into the spooky spirit.
Oct. 11 • New Castle
This Oct. 11 dinner is held at Minquadale Memorial Hall, located at 129 E. Hazeldell Ave., New Castle. Individuals will be able to enjoy a delicious dinner while trying to solve Monster Mash Murders. The meal consists of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans, pasta and meatballs, rolls and assorted desserts. Alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine will be provided.
Oct. 18 • Rehoboth Beach
Located at Delaware Seashore State Park in Rehoboth Beach, the fifth annual Boo-B-Que is a local favorite. This single day BBQ competition and festival is on Oct. 18. Attendees will be able to enjoy wing tasting, trick or treating and family fun activities. Additionally, there is the annual costume contest, beer and music.
Oct. 18 • Wilmington
At this year's Truck or Treat, Rolling Revolution will serve pay-as-you-go food truck fare, and the event will also feature seasonal drink offerings, live entertainment, activities and trick or treat goodies. The event is family-friendly and costumes are strongly encouraged.
Oct. 19 • Newark
The Food Bank of Delaware is hosting the perfect event to enjoy live music, dancing and great food. Halloween Blue Jean Ball is sponsored by Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant, who will be providing fine wines and more on Oct. 19 at 222 Lake Drive in Newark. Oct. 20 • Middletown
Hosted by Sweet Melissa, this Oct. 20 workshop is held at 5407 Peterson Road in Middletown. This $50 cooking class will show participants how to border, flood and decorate Halloween-themed sugar cookies with royal icing. At the end of the class guests will be able to take home 12 spooktacular cookies. Check out this website for more information.
Sweet Melissa is hosting another Halloween cookie decorating class on Oct. 20 for those 21 and older only. Guests will listen to creepy music, dress up and create 12 creepy sugar cookies to take home. Also, enjoy some Zombie Punch and some light refreshments. Oct. 23 • Wilmington
This spooky dinner on Oct. 23 is hosted by Stitch House Brewery at 829 Market St. in Wilmington. All ghouls and goblins are welcome at this event and costumes are strongly encouraged. This event includes a cocktail hour paired with hor d’oeurves, a five course Halloween-themed dinner plus Stitch House brews paired with each course. Oct. 26 • Frankford
This adult-only event is held on Oct. 26 at Salted Vines Vineyard and Winery, located at 32512 Blackwater Road in Frankford. Guests will be able to enjoy wine and treat pairings plus food from J & B Grilling Food Truck. Guests will also be gifted a complimentary wine tasting glass and wine glass lanyard. Oct. 27 • Newark
Hosted by Deerfield Golf Club, Halloween brunch is held on Oct. 27 at 507 Thompson Station Road in Newark. Featuring signature breakfast drinks, a barbecue station, a donut wall, made-to-order breakfast items and more, this event is sure to be a hit with brunch lovers. Oct. 27 • Middletown
Grab a partner and head to Sweet Melissa's on Oct. 27 for this festive cake decorating challenge. Teams of two looking to show off their cake decorating skills will be shown a demo of how to decorate a witch unicorn cake, and the duo that creates the closest replica will be deemed the winners. Oct. 27 • Milton
The Milton Theatre hosts a spooky interactive dinner theatre event on Oct. 27. A cash bar will be available. The dinner menu is to be announced, check the event's Facebook page for updates.
Oct. 30-31 • New Castle County
Here's your chance to scare your loved ones, and soften the blow with a sweet dessert. Sweet Melissa is offering a creepy delivery service from on Oct. 30-31, for the New Castle County area. A creepy clown will deliver treats to loved ones of your choice, and the package will include a reaction video and a red balloon with a message of your choice in addition to Halloween-themed cupcakes.
